Why do you think it is important to explore this practice area?
Nearly every practicing member of the bar needs, or will find fantastically useful, a cognizance of international law. This is so even for those who don’t specifically operate within the international sphere. Life exists in inter-“state” fashion now, for everyone! Commencing a business, marrying one from another country, or encountering environmental issues stemming from a neighboring nation are but a few examples! So if life exists in this way, then, concomitantly, so do legal conflicts. Where such disputes cannot be addressed within even the best of legal systems, lawyers will need to recognize the possible international dimensions of their clients’ cases or transactions. Accordingly, they can determine the correct paths ultimately to pursue.
