Whittier Team wins regional Moot Court Competition


The team of James Drake IV and Mykhal Ofili recently won the Western Regional competition of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition, which is operated by the National Black Law Students Association. James Drake IV is also the President of the Student Bar Association at Whittier Law School.

Seven teams competed from law schools including USC, UC Davis, UC San Diego, and Santa Clara Law. The team for Whittier Law School took the top honors in the three-day competition, held in January in Sacramento.

Assistant Professor Sheldon Lyke was the team’s advisor, and they were also assisted by Professor Jennifer Mertus and Professor Seval Yildirim.
