Whittier Moot Court Team Advances to Quarter Finals

At the recent J. Braxton Craven Competition at the University of North Carolina School of Law, a team from Whittier advanced into the quarter finals. The team of Lee Hoffman, Michael Jones, and Christopher Walsh started out facing 23 initial teams, and was one of only eight teams standing at the quarter finals.

The team put up a great fight in the round, and it took the judges 20 minutes of deliberation to reach a decision. They lost to the school’s team that ultimately won the entire competition. According to the team’s coach, Professor Erez Aloni, “The team represented our school in the strongest possible way. Everyone was highly impressed by our team’s preparation and control of the materials, and by their confidence and skillful presentation style. As for me, not only was I impressed by their ability to think quickly on their feet, but I also admired their dedication and the hard work they put into the whole endeavor.”

Professor Aloni also praised the team’s co-coach, Professor Radha Pathak. “I am grateful for the support of my co-coach, whose dedication and hours of preparations were proven exceptionally helpful.”
