Adjunct Professor of Law
Judge Miller has been a member of the Orange County Superior Court since 2002, and has served on the Family Law Panel and the Unlimited Civil Panel. Before that, he served as a staff attorney at the Court of Appeal for 13 years, was in private practice for about eight years, and was a deputy public defender for about seven years.
Judge Miller has taught as an adjunct professor at Orange County law schools almost every semester since 1991, teaching proudly and exclusively at Whittier Law School since 1998. He has taught professional responsibility, appellate practice, criminal law, administrative law, and legal skills. He has lectured extensively for court and bar organizations, at state and local levels. He has two published law review articles, as well as numerous articles for local and state publications.
Judge Miller has always been active in the Orange County legal community, serving as Orange County Bar Association president in 1997. He is a member of, served on the boards of, and/or received awards from, many local law oriented groups, including Whittier Law School Board of Counselors, Robert Banyard Inn of Court, Orange County Women Lawyers, Hispanic Bar Association, Orange County Asian American Bar Association, Celtic Bar Association, and Victim Witness Assistance Program Governing Board. Judge Miller also served on the Judicial Council’s Access and Fairness Advisory Committee and a task force of the Chief Justice’s Commission for Impartial Courts.
