Federal Income Taxation

Professor Martinson is a partner in Rutan & Tucker’s Corporate/Securities/Tax and Real Estate Sections specializing in tax law, and is a Certified Specialist, Taxation Law, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Martinson represents domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships and joint ventures involved in business and real estate transactions.

Mr. Martinson has extensive experience in the taxation and structuring of real estate investments, including joint ventures and tax-deferred exchanges under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code. He also represents taxpayers in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service, the California State Board of Equalization, and the California Franchise Tax Board.

Mr. Martinson’s practice also covers international inbound and outbound business transactions, including the federal and state tax aspects of such transactions, and tax planning for U.S. residents and nonresident alien individuals.
