Adjunct Professor of Law
Yasmine O. Abdel-Aal is the principal of Markah Legal PC, an intellectual property, entertainment and business law practice that provides practical legal counsel to individuals and institutions. Yasmine also currently serves as of counsel to the Kaufman Entertainment Law Group PC, a full service entertainment law firm in Los Angeles, and as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Whittier Law School, teaching courses relating to entertainment law and intellectual property law.
Before founding Markah, Yasmine relocated to Doha, Qatar where she was in-house counsel for Qatar Foundation, an umbrella organization of over forty centers, divisions and projects at one of the largest foundations in the world. She subsequently joined the Doha Film Institute as General Counsel of Qatar’s first international organization dedicated to building a film hub through film financing, production and education.
After law school, Yasmine worked at one of the oldest intellectual property law firms in Los Angeles. While at the firm, she represented clients from large corporations to individuals in trademark, copyright and patent matters and developed strategies with clients to protect their intellectual property.
She received her Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Management from the University of California, Irvine. Yasmine is a member of the Board of Trustees of New Horizon School Irvine. She previously served as an executive board member of the Whittier Law School Alumni Association and as a board member and reporter for the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Inns of Court. Yasmine speaks Arabic and Spanish proficiently.
