Adjunct Professor of Law
Director of Academic Support
As Director of Academic Support, Professor MacDonald is committed to providing all Whittier Law students with the guidance and resources they need to perform their best academically. Law school is like another country, with a new language, new customs, and new expectations, and many people do well when they make use of a guide to the territory. Professor MacDonald presents workshops open to all students, teaches the Legal Methods course, and meets individually with students to address their specific concerns about class preparation, time management, substantive legal questions, exam preparation, and any other issues that affect their academic performance.
Professor MacDonald graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught legal research and writing as a Law Fellow and Senior Writing Fellow, and later as an Adjunct Professor while practicing as a tax attorney at the oldest tax law firm in the United States. He practiced for more than ten years in taxation and estate planning, earning his LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami, before returning to Georgetown as Assistant Director of Graduate Career and Professional Development. Professor MacDonald also has a degree in Biology from Harvard University.
