Rey Rodríguez is a 20-year veteran of The Walt Disney Company. As Assistant Chief Counsel for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, he serves the global theatrical distribution arm of the studio, covering the US, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. His areas of responsibilities cover areas including intellectual property, contracts, antitrust work and general business law. Additional responsibilities include coordinating closely on matters of theatrical distribution and marketing with his international legal colleagues across the globe on many global initiatives to ensure effective implementation. In addition, he is the legal counsel for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International as it relates to international theatrical marketing matters and Disney’s theatrical joint ventures with Sony in Russia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Mexico, and the enforcement of distribution agreements between Sony and Disney relating to Taiwan, Switzerland, Finland and recently New Zealand. Rey received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell in economics and then went on to receive his Master’s of Public Administration from Princeton and his Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. Rey has served on many community boards including, Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission, Homeboy Industries, the Western Center for Law & Poverty Board, Family Foothill Services, Providence Hospital Community Board and Oakwood School. Through Disney Legal Pro Bono program, he provides pro bono services to an immigrant child from Guatemala, who recently received his permanent residency to work and live in the US. This work is in coordination with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). Rey and his wife, Vivian, live in Pasadena with their two sons, Diego and Pablo.
