Prior to joining Whittier Law School as an Adjunct Faculty Member, Beth Lewis was a Deputy in County Counsel’s Office, for the County of Orange (October 2000 to March 2013). She represented the Public Guardian and Public Administrator’s Office in conservatorships, elder financial abuse, decedent’s estates, and related issues. Ms. Lewis also represented the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in weapon petitions. She previously represented the Orange County Social Services Agency in juvenile dependency matters at the trial and appellate levels. With strong litigation skills, passion, and professionalism, she tried a plethora of bench trials and three jury trials.
Ms. Lewis’ litigation experience provided her with practical insight that strengthens her teaching approach. Ms. Lewis is currently teaching Professional Responsibility. In 2002, Ms. Lewis taught the Interviewing, Counseling and Negotiating portion of the Professional Responsibility Practicum. Ms. Lewis utilizes a variety of teaching techniques to create an optimal learning environment for students.

Ms. Lewis has engaged in a variety of activities that enhance the reputation of Whittier Law School’s alumni. She has given numerous well received training sessions to the Orange County Public Guardian’s Office, judged several Moot Court competitions at Whittier Law School, guest lectured at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Irvine, School of Medicine, and was a member of the Warren J. Ferguson Inn of Court.

Ms. Lewis received her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from Whittier Law School, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and third in her class.

During law school, Ms. Lewis completed an externship for the Honorable Judge William M. Monroe and a summer fellowship with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office. She was a Lead Articles Editor for the Whittier Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Honors Board, and the ABA/LSD Liaison for the Section of Criminal Justice. She received numerous awards: American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence, Orange County Women Lawyer’s Association Bar Stipend, Whittier Center for Children’s Rights Fellowship, Dean’s Citation Award, and American Jurisprudence Awards in Advanced Criminal Procedure; Bankruptcy; Corporations; Commercial Transactions I.
