Offered in collaboration with the Williams Institute of UCLA Law School, this program is the only summer law program devoted to law and policy issues relating to the LGBT community. Spain is among very few nation states that recognize same-sex marriage, and Barcelona has a very large, active and visible LGBT community.
Barcelona is one of Europe’s most popular cities, known for its art, Gaudi architecture and beautiful beaches. Located on the Mediterranean Sea at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains and 40 minutes by train from Sitges, a popular gay resort, it is the capital of Catalunya, Spain’s most politically progressive community.
Reasons to Study Abroad in Barcelona
"At the end of the day, I not only take with me great memories, new friends, and a part of Spain in my heart... but also a new perspective on the LGBT community."
— Liz Garduno, Whittier Law School
