I am happy to invite you to join me at Whittier Law School.

No matter what career path you plan to follow—legal practice, business, or public service—the Whittier Law Juris Doctor (J.D.) program will give you what you need to succeed.

As a student, you will learn from a faculty of nationally-acclaimed and committed teacher/scholars, each of them with distinguished academic backgrounds, recognized expertise, and successful law practices. They will teach you the law; its rules and principles; its history and theory; and its cultural, economic, and ethical foundations.

In our clinics, externships, and writing programs, you will learn the skills and tools of a lawyer, and his or her duties and responsibilities, enabling you to practice professionally from the day you are licensed.

You will learn the law of California and its sister states, the United States, and (if you choose) global and foreign legal systems. Because a Whittier graduate is eligible to take the bar in any state, you will be prepared to do just that.

You will learn in small classes and groups, and you will learn in the company of one of the most diverse law student bodies in the United States.

You will become confident and committed, energetic and energized.

You will be ready for a general practice or one of a half-dozen specialized practices; recognized by hiring partners, CEOs, and public officials—and a network of over 4,000 alums—as a graduate of a long-established, long-accredited, and long-admired national law school.

And on top of all that, you will study in a glorious setting, amidst year-round flowers, bushes, and trees, in the sunny and temperate coastal city of Costa Mesa, a very short ride from the beach and an hour from the mountains. You will be in the heartland of concert halls, galleries, and museums; arenas, ballparks, and stadiums; and first-class restaurants and elegant shopping.

And you will live in Silicon Valley South, in a region that is the world’s tenth largest economy, and in a state that is the world’s fifth largest economy, near corporate headquarters and plants, law firms large and small, and entrepreneurial businesses of all kinds.

Read on. Come see us. Or email me at ncogan@law.whittier.edu.
I wish you the very best of everything.

Sincerely,

Neil H. Cogan
Vice President and Dean
