News Subject: WLS Alum Becomes Partner at Sheppard Mullin

Karen Canaan, Whittier Law School '97, has become a new partner at the law firm of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hamptom. Canaan has close to ten years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications for clients in the biotechnology, chemical, and medical arts industries. As part of her practice, she prepares patent legal opinions and technology transfer agreements. In addition, she has assisted her clients in developing trademark portfolios for their patented products and she has assisted her pharmaceutical clients with their FDA regulatory requirements. In addition to her law degree from Whittier, Canaan received a B.A. in biochemistry from University of Texas, Austin in 1986.
