The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs counsels students on both academic and personal issues. Academic issues may encompass schedule planning, petitions, and various other matters.
Students may also periodically experience academic or personal emergencies which can elevate the normal law school stress. We frequently serve as a liaison in helping obtain support services for students with acute or chronic emotional and/or physical challenges. Please stop by our office, or contact us to set up an appointment. We are here to assist.
If you would like to make a confidential appointment with our on campus counselor please see below:
A counselor from the Whittier College Student Counseling Center will be on the law school campus Tuesdays, 11am – 3pm and Thursdays, 3pm – 6pm in Conference Room 2C to provide counseling, referral and crisis services. Appointments will be taken on the hour and may be scheduled by calling 562-907-4239. Please clearly indicate that you are seeking to schedule an appointment at the Law School. Counselors may also be available for walk-in consultations (if the door to the office is open, feel free to seek out the counselors).
After hours crisis support may be accessed by calling Whittier College Campus Safety 562-907-4200, and asking for the counselor on call. Appointment, consultation and crisis call fees will be billed to the student account at the rate of $30/session. A short-term, problem focused model will be utilized. If additional services are appropriate, students will be referred to private or community providers.
