Lauren Cross, Student Extern

All of my externships have been set up through professors at Whittier, connections that the school has had, or through students who had previously completed an externship at the company. I have found that the school really wants to help students succeed and make connections that might lead to a future job opportunity, and that Whittier students are very good at recommending one another as replacements for open externship spots. I have also found through speaking with past externship supervisors I have had that they take resumes they get from Whittier very seriously because they know they are going to get a candidate who is willing to work hard and take the opportunity seriously. Initially, I thought being in Orange County it would be hard to compete with the other law schools that are located in Los Angeles because of their proximity to the industry and alumni connections, but obtaining these externship opportunities have not been a problem for me or any of my fellow classmates. I have been very pleased with the externship program at Whittier and would recommend it to any student looking to gain real world experience.
