My externship experiences have reaffirmed what law school has taught me – to keep an open mind when it comes to what area of law I might be interested in. When I started law school I was set on being a transactional attorney and drafting contracts all day. Then I was fortunate enough to work at Sony where I stepped out of my comfort zone and actually negotiated the terms that were in the contracts I was drafting. I realized I really enjoyed the interaction and the ability to utilize my business experience and now I have an open mind as to what aspect of the law I will end up practicing.
