Professor Kelton has been a member of the Institute for Legal Writing and Professional Skills at Whittier Law School since 1996. Currently, Professor Kelton teaches an upper level writing course, “Professional Skills II” to third year and fourth year students focusing on advanced legal writing skills, including legal analysis, fact gathering, problem solving, tactical strategies, and ethical considerations. In addition to Professional Skills II, Professor Kelton has taught other classes offered through the Institute for Legal Writing and Professional Skills, including Legal Skills I and II and Professional Skills I.
Prior to joining the faculty at Whittier Law School, Professor Kelton practiced law in Los Angeles and Orange County. Professor Kelton began her career as a trial lawyer in both the Los Angeles and Orange County Public Defender’s Offices. In addition, she has extensive civil litigation and administrative law experience specializing in defending mental health professionals.
Professor Kelton is licensed by the State Bar of California, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Orange County Women Lawyer’s Association, and the Legal Writing Institute.
