Sonia Martin holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Cantabria (Spain) and an LLM in American Legal Studies from Whittier law School (California).

She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Bologna (Italy), l’Institut Suisse de Droit Comparé (Switzerland) and Whittier Law School. She teaches Spanish Civil law at the University of Cantabria and serves as a substitute judge at the Cantabria Courts of Appeals. She is a member of the Common Core project and is involved in different academic international projects.

She has published two books and several articles in the areas of contract law, consumers’ law, property law and trust law in Spanish, Italian and English law journals.
