Each year CIPL selects several incoming first-year students to serve as Fellows. CIPL offers each Fellow a generous and renewable partial fellowship that offsets tuition for the J.D. program. Fellows must remain in good standing, must meet the requirements for a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, and must attend all intellectual property colloquia and distinguished speaker events. Interested students may apply to the CIPL Fellowship Program by completing a Supplemental Fellowship Application. CIPL selects Fellows on the basis of academic achievement and special promise in intellectual property.

CIPL also offers a limited number of additional fellowships to upper-division students. These fellowships provide financial opportunities to students who manifest their interest and promise in intellectual property law later in their law school careers. These fellowships are offered on the same renewable basis as fellowships for incoming students, and are awarded on the basis of law school performance.
