Students can get experience in criminal law though placements with government offices such as various county offices of the district attorney, public defender, city attorney offices, private criminal defense law firms, both Los Angeles and Orange County criminal courts, and U. S. District courts. City attorney offices also allow students to get experience in various civil matters.
Students that have completed or are enrolled in civil procedure and evidence are eligible to apply for certification from the California State Bar, which allows them to make court appearances in motions, hearings, and some misdemeanor court trials.
