LAW 621
This quasi-clinical course will combine a substantive introduction to environmental justice with practical experience in that area. The class will be divided into groups, based on students' interests and substantive backgrounds, to work on specific projects with organizations. In a weekly seminar, the first hour will be devoted to substantive topics in environmental justice law and the second will focus on learning from the group projects. The class will rely on active learning techniques, such as brainstorm and simulation.

An introduction to the major issues in environmental law; the role of legislative, administrative, and executive bodies and judicial review; land and resource management; air and water pollution control; pesticide and toxic substance regulation; solid waste policy; and federal and state administrative procedures.
LAW 521
Federal taxation of intervivos transfers, including revocable and incomplete transfers: taxation of property owned at death and gifts in contemplation of death: tax credits, deductions, exemptions, valuation; and procedure and correlation with federal income tax and state inheritance and estate sales.

An analysis of revocable and irrevocable lifetime trusts as a will supplement; whether and how to avoid probate; life insurance settlement options and employee death benefits; concurrent interests including community property; use of short-term trusts to reduce income tax; marital deduction; selection of fiduciary; and estate planning of intestate property.
LAW 406
A survey of the rules and standards that regulate the admission of evidence, including relevancy, privileged communications, the hearsay rule and its exceptions, the opinion rule, authentication and "best evidence" rule, impeachment and rehabilitation, demonstrative and scientific evidence, presumptions, and burdens of proof.
LAW 411
This course accompanies the standard 4-unit Evidence course. We will cover topics in evidence as they are being covered in the regular class, but will reinforce the doctrines through role-playing as attorneys. The seminar will follow one hypothetical criminal case (a prosecution for sexual assault) and one hypothetical civil case (a products liability personal injury dispute), throughout the semester. Students will be given opportunities to write one or more motions in limine, raise and respond to objections as if they were in trial, and write at least a portion of a trial brief. Grades will be based on the quality of written work and on in-class performance.

A discussion of law relating to family relations, including marriage, divorce, child and spousal support, custody, cohabitation, and other non-traditional structures.
LAW 911
This class focuses on the legal aspects of financing feature films. The first topic addressed is the acquisition and protection of creative content, including: clearances, chain of title, options and the screenplay agreement. Following is an analysis of why most films lose money , the calculation of gross and net receipts, as well as the details of accounting in the film industry. Three specific film financing models are discussed: the studio financed P & D deal, commercial financing with, or without, distributor pre-sale contracts, and private investor financing, The course concludes with a discussion of international co-productions, foreign film grants and tax driven film funds.
LAW 525
An advanced analysis of Federalism and the allocation of power between state and federal courts, constitutional policy limitations on jurisdiction, such as the abstention doctrine and principles of equity and comity. Federal court intervention in state court proceedings by injunction and habeas corpus also are discussed.
LAW 524
A study of federal classification; taxation of incomes; individual and business taxpayers? liability; deductions, exemptions, and credits; taxation of capital gains and losses; procedures; and an introduction to partnership, trust, and corporate taxation.
